Welcome to Rockin’ Room 19, Mrs. Norden’s fourth grade class! My journey to education began at the University of Hartford where I majored in Elementary Education and received my Bachelor of Science degree back in 2007. I was then accepted into an internship program as a partnership between Simsbury Public Schools and the University of Saint Joseph, where I spent half my time as a literacy tutor for grades K-6 and the other half taking graduate classes. I am still currently taking classes at USJ and am expecting to earn my Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education by spring 2014. After my internship experience, I was offered the wonderful opportunity to teach 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies in the Farmington Public Schools district. My adventure next took me to Bugbee Elementary School in West Hartford where I taught 3rd grade for a year and then moved up to 4th, where I have remained. I am loving life as a fourth grade teacher at Bugbee and know this will be another fantastic year of teaching and learning with my rockstar students!
Outside of school, you can find me dancing around in a Zumba class, experimenting in the kitchen, traveling to as many places as I can, snapping pictures of my adventures, singing and swaying to all kinds of music, scrapbooking favorite memories, watching a Yankee or Giants game, sipping some delicious coffee, eating at yummy restaurants, and spending time with family and friends. I was recently married in July 2012 and my husband, Tate, and I bought a house here in West Hartford. We’re so grateful to be a part of this special community!
In this website, you will find links to much of the coursework from one of the graduate classes I am taking, called “Computers in the Classroom”. It is imperative that as a 21st century educator, I adequately prepare my students to succeed in an increasingly competitive global economy. Since technology truly is the key to the future, this class has been instrumental in teaching me what I need to know to be able to ensure that my students become life-long learners that achieve beyond their wildest dreams. Explore and enjoy!
